Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim:
Wrap-Up
From Miami to Brazil to St. Tropez- dressing to impress is all about showing some skin & effervescent suits with lots of accessories. Miami Swim is not about your backyard pool it’s about showing off what you've got at the hottest destinations.
This season we saw a number of trends that have redefined the tan lines…
Jungle Love
Break out your inner animal instinct & go deep into the jungle with these styles. Animal prints are always in, but this year’s Jungle theme tends to be more literal with bold florals & subtle leaves. Designs by Poko Pano brought awareness to the delicate ecosystem’s plight through its Summer 2010’s Amazon-inspired themes such as the caffeinated guarana plant & spicy peppers.
Gallant Prints
Prints are always a swimsuit hit. This season we saw inspirations stemming from all over the place like Tibi‘s island of Bali- infused with batik and ikat prints that have been updated with a vibrant modern-day color palette.
1950’s Classics
Channeling 1950’s vixen Sophia Loren, all over the runway collections referenced higher waistlines & athletic cuts. This higher cut is ultra femmie & an interesting way to draw attention toward the smallest part of your waist. Collections like Marysia Swim & Caffé Swimwear executed this perfectly.
Grecian Goddess
One shoulder cuts & attention grabbing necklines pave way for this goddess-like style of swimwear. This fashionable beachwear brings a different sense of sophistication to swimwear- like stand out suit by ANK a slate one shoulder rouging one-piece that will make any girl feel like Aphrodite.
The Return of The Onesie
There is no denying it- the one piece is back & it isn’t for the faint of heart.
The cut out- Giving the support of the one piece with the sex factor of just enough to keeping ‘em wanting more.
The deep V- This is exactly what is sounds like- A DEEP V. This style covers just enough, but accentuates the womanly breast bone.
Collections that got this right include Aqua di Lara & Caffé Swimwear
Let’s Talk Head Gear
You can accessorize any which way you want to on the beach, but for this season take a cue from Edie Bouvier Beale and wrap it up. Turban- like gear was all the rage on the runway. These bands were all about color & covering the forehead (perhaps a preventative cure for wrinkles?). Other trends included oversized billowy hats that give another meaning to staying cool in the shade.
