ONtheRise:
Alexander Michael Snyder

The first show of a designers career is always the most exciting- it is their opportunity to announce themselves as a force in the industry & for all to take notice… for many such novices their countdown to their first Fashion Week is a mere month away.
So when we were presented the opportunity to see one such newbie – if you will- we jumped at the chance. There is something so fresh & exciting about previewing a collection of someone who has never been reviewed. To our delight, our expectations were exceeded…
Alexander Michael Snyder, wearing his signature shirt stays, dress socks, button ups, and tight ties presented a well edited version of what the press can expect from him come September. Inspired by the internationally popular Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo & their shared kinship of a German Mexican heritage, Snyder set the tone for a dramatic collection complete with volume & layering. He also experimented with lengths of hems, high waistlines & powerful colors.
The high-end ready-to-wear looks are for an established woman who is looking to add classic pieces to her wardrobe. They exemplify Snyder’s dedication to fine tailoring & present a mature perspective from the recent Art Institute of New York City graduate.
Of his aesthetic, Snyder professes, “I am not trying to recreate the wheel, I am just trying to make it more beautiful because women deserve to feel beautiful”.
The entire Alexander Michael Snyder collection will debut September 9, 2009 when he shows in the Red Bull Space @ 40 Thompson Street in SoHo @ 6:00 PM (Invites are required).
