ONFilm: Dressed

designer nary manivong in "dressed"If Project Runway has taught the mainstream fashion followers anything- it is that behind every label there is a story- the one of determination & sacrifices that aspiring fashion designers hold,  the many hurdles they overcome & a personalization to the garments that will soon be donning their backs.

One such story of inspiration is that of desinger Nary Manivong…

The documentary, Dressed features an up-close & personal portrait of the self taught designer from his early beginnings as a homeless young boy in Ohio to the daily production routines & challenges faced, leading up to the presentation of his spring 2009 collection during New York’s legendary “Fashion Week”.

Manivong, who was left abandoned & homeless along with his siblings in Ohio by his parents, is a true testament that if you follow your dreams they truly can come true through hard work & dedication.

designer nary manivong in "dressed"The ready-to-wear designer who is self made & self taught began designing & creating his “look” from vintage clothing.  Today that “look” has caught the eyes of some of fashions biggest names… experts such as Fern Mallis, Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion; fellow Ohio designer Nanette Lepore; Mickey Boardman of Paper Magazine; Author Mary Gehlhar of “Fashion Designer’s Survival Guide”; Simon Collins, Dean of Fashion for Parsons, The New School for Design; Industry Consultant George Furlan; Stylist, Robert Verdi; President of The Fashion Group International, Margaret Hayes; fashion writer Lynn Yaeger & author & Creative Director at Barney's, Simon Doonan all offer insightful commentary in the film.

Producer Maryanne Grisz &  Director David Swajeski of OneRock.tv were introduced to Nary by a mutual friend & knew this was a a story they could not pass up. Grisz says of the film “Dressed is a universal story to which everyone can relate & derive inspiration”.
The film which also offers an insider’s look behind-the-scenes of the glamorous, chaotic world of fashion is set to as a special sneak peak screening after Nary's September 10th runway show (which is being streamed live @ www.narymanivong.com.)
